President Donald Trump has arrived at Blenheim Palace in grand style ahead of a gala dinner with US and UK business leaders. He was pictured arriving in Marine One in a tuxedo with First Lady Melania, who is wearing a floor-length, pleated buttercup yellow gown. The magnificent English country house, which was built in the early 18th century, was the ancestral seat of Sir Winston Churchill, who was born there in 1874. President Trump arrived at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is in Oxfordshire, in his official helicopter at about 7.50pm before being greeted by Theresa May. He is expected to be given a tour of Blenheim's grounds by the 12th Duke of Marlborough, Jamie Blandford - also known as Jamie Spencer-Churchill.

ROBERT HARDMAN: Blenheim's glorious pageantry trumps the feeble protests against The Donald

So much for those threats of a 'carnival of resistance'. It was a spectacular carnival of pageantry which greeted Donald Trump last night as he finally paid his first presidential visit to the UK.
On the magnificent forecourt of Oxfordshire's Blenheim Palace, our greatest non-royal residence, the American President was feted with a stunning personalised twilight parade and recital by the Massed Bands of the Household Division.
Short of Trooping the Trump Colour, this was about as good as it gets for a visiting leader.
It concluded with bagpipes from the land of Mr Trump's mother's birth serenading the President with a peerless Amazing Grace, before he was led in to dinner by Theresa May.
And in they went hand-in-hand, just as they had walked in to the White House on their first meeting.
