Predsjednica Republike i vrhovna zapovjednica Oružanih snaga Republike Hrvatske Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović u Splitu je otvorila konferenciju Vojnog odbora NATO-a.

U uvodnom govoru predsjednica Grabar-Kitarović svima je poželjela dobrodošlicu i zahvalila na dolasku, ali i na dosadašnjem doprinosu unutar Saveza. "Zahvaljujem svima vama, ali i svim vašim pripadnicama i pripadnicima na njihovoj predanosti Savezu i na njihovu sudjelovanju u mnogim misijama mira u svijetu", istaknula je.

 Predsjednica je najavila kako će se na konferenciji konstruktivno raspravljati i nastavljati razgovori na temeljima NATO summita u Varšavi i Walesu na kojima su NATO saveznici pokazali impresivnu ujedinjenost. Naglasila je kako je sada njihov zadatak ići korak dalje u suočavanju s brojnim izazovima koji su pred Savezom, poput nestabilnosti u svijetu koje ga okružuju.

 "Odgovor kako se nositi s tim izazovima stane u jednu riječ, koja je i temeljno načelo i vrijednost NATO saveza, a to je solidarnost", zaključila je predsjednica Grabar-Kitarović.

NATO Military Committee Conference - Split, Croatia

The Military Committee, NATO’s highest Military Authority, will meet in Chiefs of Defence (CHoDs) Session from 16-18 September 2016, in Split, Croatia. The Meeting will be hosted by the Croatian Chief of the General Staff, General Mirko Šundov.

The Chiefs of Defence will discuss implementing the decisions taken by NATO Heads of State and Government at the recent NATO Summit held in Warsaw in July 2016. They will review key aspects of ongoing and forthcoming tasks in order to provide additional guidance and direction. The CHoDs will also assess and exchange views on NATO Operations, Missions and Activities.

The meeting will be chaired by General Petr Pavel, the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.  He will be supported in each session by General Curtis M. Scaparrotti (Supreme Allied Commander Europe or SACEUR) and General Denis Mercier (Supreme Allied Commander Transformation or SACT). 

The Military Committee meets twice a year at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, at the level of Chiefs of Defence to discuss NATO operations and missions and provide the North Atlantic Council with consensus-based military advice on how the Alliance can best meet global security challenges, and once a year they meet in an Allied member country.  On a day-to-day basis, their work is carried out by permanent Military Representatives at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

Accreditation

Only accredited media will get press passes for the NATO Military Committee Conference in Croatia. Requests for accreditation will be processed electronically. Accreditation forms must be sent by 10:00 am on 14 September 2016. Forms delivered after this date may be refused.

The forms, photo (if possible) and required copies of the documents should be sent by e-mail to: infor@morh.hr. Please use the following title in the subject of your e-mail: "Accreditation NATO MCC 2016".

Passes must be worn visibly at all times, and security personnel may ask to see another form of ID at any time. We would like to inform the media that security checks will be conducted separately prior to every media event. For this reason, media are expected to at least an hour before the events.
