Tesla, Nikola, Croatian inventor (Smiljan near Gospić, July 10, 1856 - New York, January 7, 1943). He was born in the heart of Croatia, in Lika, at a time when Croatia was part of Austro-Hungary. He spent most of his life in the United States, where he made all his inventions.
Throughout his life, Tesla was spiritually attached to his homeland Croatia and his homeland. In his first patents (1885-88), while he had not yet obtained American citizenship, he began the application by presenting: "Let it be known that I, Nikola Tesla from Smiljan in Lika, the border province of Austro-Hungary, invented…".
